Let's plays and complete play-throughs featuring a variety of games with the emphasis on having fun! All content is free to everyone and my release schedule is one video per day, per game/series. Members get early access as a way of me saying thanks for their support but all videos go public as per schedule.
I love adventure games, strategy games, RPG's, anything with a story that draws you in and games that allow you to explore and do silly stuff alongside the main story. I try to be reasonably family friendly and safe for work even if the games I play are not.
I've been playing video games for about 30 years and I don't plan stopping any time soon. Whether its the challenge of player versus player, solving some puzzle, or just losing yourself in the story of a fantasy world, gaming is the one hobby I've always come back to.
Outside of RUclips I fix PC's for a living, have a family and was a past member of the Great Britain & England archery teams.

u gonna be legendary with the modern day mod there are alot of details in it
0:45 - Not even 1 minute in and I found the first major inaccuracy lol. The US is not democratic. We are a constitutional republic, always have been.
The Algorithm saw fit to show your channel to me. Good series!
I will say to Sickles' credit, that some recent conjecture has given him props for halting Longstreet at Gettysburg and throwing a major wrench into Lee's plans.
@@chazcollins2164 That is true, Longstreet's attack would have looked different. For better or worse it's hard to say.
Thanks and welcome to the channel :)
Took the boys a bit to learn the new rifle. Nothing like learning on the job. Gettysburg is going to be a beast of a battle
I'm looking forward to Gettysburg! The very first American Civil War game I played was on the ZX Spectrum and called Yankee. It was a compilation of two games, Gettysburg and Chickamauga.
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays I still have the old sid meier's gettysburg which was a great game
Loving this Series 👍👍
Thanks! I see the Cummins artillery boys have been doing a good job :)
Petition for you to drop 5 episodes of this a day please!!! 😂
Oh that would be awesome! I wish I had the time for that :)
Just came across this, and I must admit that I enjoy seeing a Brit (Englishman? Not sure the correct terminology) play an American Civil War game. Going through the Confederate path now. Will probably play a Union Legendary run after that.
Brit, Englishman, Yorkshireman are all more than acceptable and certainly kinder than how most people refer to me ;) The American Civil War is just one of periods of history that just grabbed me. I don't know whether its the characters, the stories, the music, or maybe just that the TV show "North and South" with Patrick Swayze was one of my favourite series from years back, but I've always been fascinated by it.
Horsey Stuff….. if only there was a word for them 😂
Well the first word that springs to mind is "Findus" :D
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays Findus Crispy Cuirassiers?
Marky Mark! Great Series My Man!
Thanks!
Are you playing the jp mod?
No, just vanilla. I've heard that mod is well worth playing though.
@MarkGFLLetsPlays thank you for quick reply. Yes mod is like a whole new game!
@@kennethdavis3737 I might give it a playthrough in that case, perhaps with the Confederates when I finish this campaign. Are there any major differences in the mechanics I should be aware of?
@MarkGFLLetsPlays yes! But there is a mod guide and you can adjust ai settings
You need to research more fuel refining. 🙂
I certainly do, that would make my fuel imports so much more efficient :)
Did you really have to end the video there and then, honestly?
What can I say, I grew up watching Eastenders on the telly. Epicly timed show endings are all I know :D
"we're watching" (end vid-> bloody cliffhangers. )
Timing is everything, as they say :D
Another very late comment by me, sorry…When you were talking about the in-game German invasion of the USSR it reminded me a little of Churchill’s remark on the event in real life. The long-time anti-communist statesman observed that: ‘If Hitler invaded Hell, I would make at least a favourable reference of the Devil in the House of Commons.’ 😊 Churchill is one of my favorite historical figures.
If you have spare un-named units could we have a lancashire brigade? Maybe Queens Lancashire Regiment or Lancashire Fusiliers?
Done. And they are in the same division as their arch rivals, the Yorkshire Volunteers :)
Happy to see my brigade get its second star. Lee almost did a classic Lee maneuver on you with that flank attack! FYI you gave Averell's brigade in 3rd corps the new 1861 Springfields and not the older Springfields - letting you know because I would assume you want the new ones for 1st corp first
Well spotted! I've changed that now. Guess which brigade got the better rifles ;)
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays let's go!!!!
to ease manpower issues, you could let up on your port garrisons. if you can build a strong enough navy, then you will always have enough naval superiority to stop the enemy from being able to invade navally. Of course, that does require a very strong navy in the first place so you would need to build that up first. Also, in peace conferences, its sometimes a good idea to puppet countries instead of take their territory. For example, I personally would've puppeted the Iberian Socialist Union because then there wouldn't be the manpower drain from garrisons. But that's just me personally
I might pupper them later if manpower becomes an issue down the road. For now I'll enjoy those extra tasty resources and bonus factories. Once my colonial economy is improved a bit by the focuses, that might be a good time to let our little puppets free.
I really like your gameplay! ✌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🫡
Thanks! :)
Iwo Jima taken without a shot being fired. Take THAT, Nips ! Lol
Lol!
La Vuelta a España looked not quite the same as usual. Well done there. 😎👍 Btw, all ships with names starting with HDMS are Danish ships. It was our ships, not the Norwegians. 😁
Oh - was Denmark in the war too, or did they link up with Norway?
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays Denmark joined that weird Spanish Iberian alliance. 😊
Just saying I think it would be cool if you make your own faction now
From the ashes of the Old Republic, The Empire is born :D Although that does sound a little star-warsy :)
A very late comment…if you like old movies, Casablanca is a classic. Brilliant acting, directing, writing, a stirring plot and you can’t go wrong with actors like Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Peter Lorre and Claude Rains. Highly recommended!
Do you know if we will get to see total casualties at the end of the campaign?
Do you mean at the game's end, or just the end of the Chancellorsville campaign? If the latter - then yes. This battle shows them separately, and the previous 3 days can be viewed here ruclips.net/video/B5Fh2P9cNEY/видео.html
I mean at the game's end, after all the battles have been fought. Just curious to see how your war compares to the real life numbers
@@crosbylemieux6687 I don't know actually, I hope so. It will be nice to see the overall campaign results.
If you win, you’ll get “total stats”; so yes. 👍🏻
@@jdcdl Thanks.
Just starting this video but I wanted to agree with you right away that I wish you were more aggressive yesterday in pushing those points to the south. Although by not doing it you were channeling the ghost of General Hooker as he didn't press his advantage when he had it. Looking forward to some serious action this video!
Just finished the video and man you really let them have it these two days ! Major victory! My brigade very bloodied once again but the enemy always gets the worst of it. Thanks for another good video
@@Bearbok From what others have said, even you push hard for those extra victory points in the first day the battlefield "resets" for the second day anway so you don't keep them. I haven't tried this myself though so can't verify.
Infantry that had attached bayonets became much like spearman, which made them very dangerous cavalry. The enemy army only regenerates between battles, not inter battle, and you had so mauled them earlier that they had lost a lot of their strength as the battle progressed.
Hi MarkGFL, I though historical means everything german go for, become big and bad~ but what we have are mostly U-boat and Panzer 3~~~~
In this sense it means the AI are set to historical settings, meaning we get to play out the war rather than seeing all sorts of non-historical options - like the UK going communist, USA going fascist, etc etc.
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays kkk, I though we are going historical direction, but more i watch, more seems off lol. bug thanks for awesome content!
Thank you for the interesting content! but when i watch this part when you hove over Soviet boarder, i saw ton of tanks, im kinda worried that your front line won't host over east~
Not sure if it’s this video or the last one, but that comment you made about the AI running down skirmishers is spot on. I am trying an all skirmisher play-through and it’s absolutely maddening.
Mad, isn't it? The whole point of skirmishers is that they are supposed to be faster and more flexible than formed infantry!
That’s what I thought, but apparently they are all track stars.
@@aarond95 😆
Napoleon had a thing for Egypt iirc. Suez would be nice to have, not sure who controls it in this wacky world.
Thats true, he did! I shall have to go and take a look and see who I might end up at war with :D
Ethiopia got lucky, didn't have to face marines and the carrier😅😅
The meer threat of facing the glorious French marines was enough to force their surrender :)
Marins de la Garde Imperiale are so feared because no one has seen them and lived to tell about it 🤣
Can’t wait for the next episode 😁👍🏻
Kinda weird you have no Manpower or fuel.
Fuel I knida expected as I'm not importing much, but the manpower thing came as a bit of a surprise.
It might be a good idea to take a pause on Focus Tree progress. France typically doesn't earn a lot of daily Political Power, so if you want a fairly quick 150 Political Power for upgrading the Recruitment Law, ignoring the Focus Tree for a while is the way to get the needed extra Political Power fast.
Italy joining the fray sure complicates matters! At least you're well on the way to conquering Spain. However, your zero available manpower is a problem as you'll struggle to garrison Spain effectively. I'd definitely cancel all submarine production since launching them does take manpower. Having them all sit idle feels like such a waste. I'd put them on a new task force or merge them onto your existing ones, or even scrap the really old 1936 ones and get the manpower back. Consider holding off on new MIO research as it does take a small amount of political power each time you set them off, until you can get the next conscription level. You really need more than 3 research slots, or you're going to fall really far behind on everything. Maybe as a prioritgy finish off the Colonial National Focuses on the far left that give you two research slots.
As we say around here whenever a crisis looms... it'll be reet ;)
All sorts of bad things happen with lack of spare manpower aside from lack of soldiers for suppression units in Spain. Regarding resistance suppression division design, when there are not a substantial number of obsolete tanks to add to suppression divisions, typically the best suppression division design in terms of Suppression per 100 soldiers is 16 cavalry battalions plus 1 MP support company. The empty 5th regiment on the right hand side of the division design is then available for a tank battalion or two once you do get enough obsolete tanks. The short term problem with a manpower shortage is reduced combat stats. For example, a division that is missing half of its manpower at best fights at half strength. A short term partial fix for divisions with a lot of tanks or artillery sometimes is to create a division design with 1 less infantry battalion. When a division is short by 15% or so on its manpower, switching that particular division to the more manpower-frugal design will then restore tank and artillery battalions to almost full strength. One longer term problem with a manpower shortage is the eventual loss of unit experience. If a division is missing half its manpower, the division will lose half of its experience when the missing manpower gets filled with rookie soldiers. Regarding scrapping warships in order to free some manpower, the warships to be scrapped should be in a seaport with a good supply connection to your capital. Above all, do not scuttle a ship while it is still at sea, or otherwise 95% of that ship's manpower will become shark food. In order to avoid potential user interface problems, the ships to be scrapped should be in their very own task force, which itself should be in its very own fleet. Otherwise it is too easy to unknowingly be in task force mode or fleet mode and scrap ships that you didn't intend to scrap. Worse yet is if some of the ships that were unintendedly scrapped were still at sea, meaning that 95% of their crews got lost to the sharks, and are therefore permanently unavailable to fill the manpower needs of your armies.
I'm liking the progress you've made and are currently making with the invasion of Spain. On another note, one thing I'll agree with you on is that I certainly was not expecting Italy to suddenly declare war on you.
Indeed, the Italy declaration caught me off guard. I guess anything can happen in these non-historical games. Lucky I had that army in the Alps!

Glad you're enjoying them :)
There was a game series called "Take Command: Scourge of War" which covered some major ACW battles (Gettysburg, Antietam etc.) produced by Mad Minute Games. Quite old now (2007 onwards) but I played them back in the day. Really good, especially as I have been a student of the ACW since I was 12 years old or so. I got "Ultimate General: Gettysburg" for my PS4 and tbh it is a bit of a dog to play due to having to use the controller rather than a keyboard/mouse. Very basic compared to the PC version. Maybe I should get a better laptop.......
I played quite a bit of Take Command: 2nd Manassass and while it looked a little rough it was easily one of the best wargames I have ever played. I think I tried palying Scourge of War but it always seemd to have performance issues. The first Civil War game I ever played was Yankee on the ZX Spectrum. Man that looks basic now looking back on it but at the time I remember thinking it was pretty damn clever!
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays ahhhh the ZX Spectrum, loved mine (Lords of Midnight!). Also played a Gettysburg game on my Atari ST. Great stuff.
Loving this series Mark, keep it up :)
Will do, and thanks :)
Imperialism will never succeed. Hoi4 is filled with indoctrination and propaganda and misinformation.
Which version are you playing?
I'm playing the Steam version, I bought it years ago.
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays great game. New mods available
This world is in a strangely peaceful timeline (at least till you flooded across the Pyrenees) considering it is 1942!
Quite true, at least as far as Europe goes. Apart from the occasional civil war and some *minor* skirmish in the Pyrenees ;)
not you almost skipping a sidequest for 6 ammo bruh in the tutorial missions too btw as a czech you pronounce "c" as "ts"(or somewhat similar) or thinking of sacrificing anyone(especially a granadier)
Looking okay so far with the invasion of communist Spain. If you can make a successful encirclement with those enemy divisions on the northeastern border, you stand to eliminate at least a dozen divisions.
Once we get through the mountains Spain should be much easier. Especially if we can encircle a large part of their army in the Pyrenees.
Need new up to date Germany run !
This is true. Might be one for the near future :)
Spoiler alert, if you are aggressive and take enemy positions when the next day comes it will undo your progress. I took the Rebels Right Flank twice during the battle (where your calvery dismounted I took that fence took the objective) and the next day the Rebels were back in strength in all the defensive positions I took. One more thing, at one point you wanted vision on that enemy brigade in the woods, all you need to do to get it is detach skirmishers, they have better vision than the infantry brigade they spawn from, that should have revealed the enemy unit in full. But sometimes units will fire on units not visible as well.
It's odd I guess that the battlefield "resets" in some scenarios.
The American Guarantees mimic the actual monroe doctrine which is we guaranteed south american from EUROPEAN powers.. they could fight themselves all day and we didnt care LOL
Lol! I didn't know about this, thanks!
Knowing what happened/is coming is such a huge advantage. Had you not known that flanking attack was coming you would think you are doing that flanking attack and attacked Lee's "rear" hard. You would have went for those roads. Your very good positioning confused the rebel generals I think haha
Forewarned is fore-armed as they say. While it does feel a bit gamey it would have been daft of me to sit and take that attack like I didn't know it was coming, plus it could have been possible historically for the Union to have been prepared for it.
@@MarkGFLLetsPlays yep!
It was the infantry you forgot to save though you did correct later thats all for now viva le cat😸
Thanks! 😻
I always liked General Hooker. I think he fell victim to the peter principle unfortunately
I think so too. You see that a lot when reading through military histories, plus I remember working for a manager once who was in no way suited to managing people!
@MarkGFLLetsPlays yeah I've heard your current boss is brutal
@@crosbylemieux6687 Please be careful what you say, he sometimes reads the comments...
I’ve enjoyed your play through so far, great job. I know someone has probably already mentioned this, but I’d love to see you have a go with the J & P mod., it almost makes a completely different game and I think you would really enjoy it.
Thanks! If I do a Rebel playthrough I might install the mod for that, change everything up a bit.
Although I can’t really get on board with the rebel army considering they were fighting to keep my ancestors enslaved., I might still watch because I enjoy the historical background you give before each battle.
